Patient Rights at Bet Hadar
- The right to receive medical treatment: Every person has the right to receive treatment, without discrimination.
- Adequate medical treatment: A patient has the right to receive appropriate treatment in terms of professional standards and humane interaction
- Information regarding the identity of the caregiver: The patient is entitled to information about the identity and role of every person treating them.
- The right to obtain a second opinion: A patient has the right to request and receive a second opinion regarding their treatment.
- Ensuring continued adequate treatment: A patient transitioning from one caregiver or medical institution to another is entitled to cooperation between the caregivers and the medical institutions to ensure the continuation of adequate care.
- Maintaining the patient’s dignity: The patient is entitled to have their dignity preserved at all stages of their treatment.
- Maintaining the patient’s privacy: The patient is entitled to have their privacy and the modesty of their body maintained at all stages of treatment.
- Treatment in a medical emergency: In cases where there is a serious threat to life or a medical emergency, the patient is entitled to receive medical treatment even against their will, according to the decision of the ethics committee.
- Informed consent: Treatment is conditional upon the patient’s consent. This consent can only be given after the patient has been fully explained about the medical diagnosis, proposed treatment, chances and risks, side effects, and the consequences of not receiving treatment.
- Medical records: A patient has the right to access information from their medical file, including a copy of it. The law mandates that every medical institution appoint someone responsible for patient rights.
- Maintaining medical confidentiality: A caregiver or medical institution employee will keep confidential all information related to a patient that they receive during their duties or in the course of their work.
- Disclosure of medical information to another person: A caregiver or medical institution may disclose medical information to another person only if the patient has given their consent.
What we expect from the patient and their visitors
To enable us to perform our work, we expect from the patient and their visitors:
- To adhere to the instructions and guidance of the staff and to play their part in the treatment process.
- To avoid self-harm.
- To behave respectfully and to treat the staff with due respect.
- To help resolve any disputes in a pleasant and proper communication manner without verbal or physical violence. Not to interfere with the proper functioning and daily order of the department. To respect the instructions and guidelines of the shift manager in the department
- To respect Bet Hadar’s customs and directives on matters of Kashrut.
- To respect the rules regarding visiting hours and entry to the department and rooms
- To maintain the safety and comfort of others.
- Not to smoke within the premises of Bet Hadar.
- Not to damage the equipment and the furniture, and to return chairs and equipment
- to the ward after use.
