Location:

BetHadar is located in the city of Ashdod, the fifth-largest city in Israel, in the Southern District of the country, on the Mediterranean coast. The city of Ashdod is located 32 kilometers south of Tel Aviv, 20 kilometres north of Ashkelon and 53 kilometres west of Jerusalem. The Port of Ashdod is Israel's largest port.  

While the first documented settlement in Ashdod dates to the Canaanite culture of 17th century BCE  making the city one of the oldest in the world, mentioned 13 times in the Bible, during its history the city was settled by Philistines, Israelites, Byzantines, Crusaders and Arabs. Nowadays Ashdod is a modern planned city, established in 1956 on the sand hills near the site of the ancient town, with a land-area of approximately 60 square kilometres and a population of 206,400, with a multi-cultural character. Ashdod has seen much of its growth as the result of absorption of immigrants. Among the major groups of immigrants are Jews of Moroccan and Egyptian descent, Romania, Georgia, the former Soviet Union. During the 1990s the city absorbed a large number of Beta Israel immigrants from Ethiopia, and in more recent years Ashdod absorbed a large number of immigrants from the United States, United Kingdom, France, Argentina, and South Africa

Project:

Bet Hadar, is a continuing care medical center. It has several hospitalization wards that are designed to meet the needs of a patient who has been discharged from general hospital but still requires medical care. The wards include: Rehabilitation and Recovery, Complex Nursing, Oncology supportive nursing care, Palliative Care and Dialysis, Ventilation and Geriatric Nursing

target group at each ward:

The Rehabilitation ward The ward is run by a competent and skilled staff that customs an individual rehabilitation program per patient and ensures a full cooperation for its implementation among the various professional workers as well as the patient and family members. The ward houses patients that are rehabilitating from strokes, orthopedic surgery and joint replacements, spinal operations, amputations and prosthesis fitting. The rehabilitation process is effective and results can be seen within a reasonable timeframe.

At the Complex Nursing wards, which have been active for the past 10 years, all patients are fitted with a care program matching their capabilities, to be implemented by the entire staff. Patients requiring improvement of functions, re-establishment during recovery or strengthening so they could return to their homes receive physical and occupational therapies based on their needs and capabilities, in addition to the medical treatment and care.

Patients requiring palliative or supportive care and management of pain or terminal disease symptoms are provided with emotional support as well as individual and focused care designed to ease their suffering; this care includes guidance and support for family members.

The Complex Nursing ward also houses geriatric patients who require dialysis, a procedure provided at an institute located within Bet Hadar and operated by the Affek Company.

The Ventilation wards provide treatment for chronically ventilated patients who are to be weaned from the ventilators during hospitalization. Any patient with the potential for weaning and rehabilitation can enjoy all treatment aspects provided by the skilled and devoted staff and the advanced equipment held by Bet Hadar, including innovative ventilators fit to meet the patients’ needs. Patients requiring prolonged ventilation without weaning potential, accordingly receive prolonged nursing and supportive care. Mobile machines enable the patients to leave their rooms to the ward’s lobby and balcony (in accordance with the patient’s medical status).

Our center has consistently been held in high regard by the Ministry of Health’s Geriatrics Division, which has time after time extended our operation license for the maximal periods of time. The center maintains and even exceeds the existing standards and procedures in the field. The level of hospitalization conditions is high, the rooms and public spaces are fully and constantly air-conditioned, and personal media use (TV and computer) at the patient’s bed is available at extra cost. Each ward has its own spacious balcony and a likewise spacious, bright and fully accessorized lobby which serves as a dining and daily activity room
.
The staff:

The staff at each and every ward consists of physicians, nurses, orderlies, physical therapists, occupational therapists, a social worker, a nutritionist, a speech therapist and a recreational therapist.
